Priestnall Secondary School, known simply as Priestnall School, is a secondary school in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, England. There are currently over 1300 students attending the school. The headteacher is John Cregg. The school was rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in a recent inspection and also rated 'Outstanding' when an English inspection took place. The school is split into 5 colleges: Bridgewater College, Imperial College, Urbis College, Victoria College and Rylands College. There are a mixture of year groups in each of these mini-colleges, each having its own head of college with the title "Director of Studies". Each Director of Studies acts similarly to a Head of Year. The percentage of GCSEs grade A * - C in 2014 were one of the highest in the area, and the school received an "Outstanding" in their last Ofsted inspection. All pupils have a maximum of three physical education lessons per week, as well as having the option to undertake varied extra curricular sporting activities. The school has a dedicated building for sports and dance, with a multi-purpose sports hall, a gym, squash courts, a fitness suite and dance studios. The school opens these facilities to the public at weekends. In each year group, Physical Education is compulsory and in years 10 and 11, Students are given the choice to either do a GCSE or BTEC qualification in PE or Dance. ==History== The school was established in 1974 by a merger of Fylde Lodge High School, which was located in Priestnall Road, Heaton Mersey, and Stockport High School for Girls, which was located in Cale Green. Priestnall School took over the Fylde Lodge High School building. The Stockport High School building was subsequently used first by Davenport High School, then by Hillcrest Grammar School from 1983. Fylde Lodge High School was built in the 1960s as an all girls school. It was still an all girls school at the time of the merger. Males were allowed to study at Priestnall School from 1987.
